Swissair DC-8
Swissair DC-8-32 HB-IDB  C/N 45417.   Between the time of delivery in 1960 and when this shot was taken in 1963, three different ship titles had been used -- "Jungfrau", "Basel-Stadt" and "Genf."  The aircraft was converted to JTD-3 engines making it a DC-8-53 in 1964 and continued with Swissair until 1976.  After that it was converted to a freighter, like so many others, and flew with a wide variety of operators -- but only until 1984, when it was scrapped.   It is shown here in its heyday at New York Idlewild being prepared for its overnight schedule to Zurich.
