TWA B727-31 LAX

I started with TWA the same month as the company's first 727 was delivered. Two months later, in June 1964, N850TW visited LAX for ground employee training. I snapped this picture of it in the hangar just before several of us from the ATO (airport ticket office) were given a tour of the airplane, inside and out. The sight of those fully extended flaps emphasized the 727's ability to get in and out of smaller airports. It was another year before TWA began scheduling the type to the West Coast.       - Photograph and caption by Jon Proctor
